A Marine pilot shot down over Laos in 1972 was buried in Cathedral City, officially ending 16 1/2 years of uncertainty for his family. Maj. Sam Cordova had been listed as missing in action until this month when military officials notified his parents, Eleanor and Leo Cordova, that dental records proved the skeletal remains given to the United States by the Vietnamese last year were those of their son.
