Mexican authorities found three more bodies on an abandoned ranch about 1,000 yards south of the U.S. border near Agua Prieta, south of Douglas, Ariz. A spokesman for the Sonora state attorney general said officials believe an American is behind the killings. He said two people have been detained for questioning. Detective Tom Petropoulos said the latest three bodies were all Mexican men, and showed signs of being strangled. The three were found in a well where five other victims were found earlier. In all, 12 bodies have been found. Agua Prieta has been a center for cocaine trafficking, and officials believe the slayings are drug related.
