College Roundup : Irvine’s Kaplan Wins 19th in Row

Mark Kaplan won his 19th consecutive match as UC Irvine defeated Pepperdine, 5-1, in a nonconference men’s tennis match Thursday at Irvine.
Kaplan, a senior, defeated Grant Saacks, 6-4, 6-4. Kaplan is 25-5 on the season and is ranked 14th in the nation.
Junior Trevor Kronemann, who is ranked 20th in the nation, defeated Tomer Zimmerman, 6-4, 6-4, for the Anteaters (17-6). Kronemann is 21-14 on the season.
Brian Dick defeated Mike Roberts, 6-7, 6-4, 6-0, to give Pepperdine (12-8) its only victory.
In nonconference softball:
Southern California College 14-11, Pacific Christian College 0-1--Janet Evans went five for eight with two triples and six runs batted in to lead SCC (14-14) in the doubleheader at Cal State Fullerton.
