Olympian Brian Abshire of Athletics West shattered a meet record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the 23rd annual Dogwood Relays at Knoxville, Tenn.
Abshire’s time was 8 minutes 29.52 seconds, breaking the record of 8:30.7 set by Tennessee Coach Doug Brown on April 10, 1976.
Rob Curtis, who graduated from Kentucky in 1985, threw the javelin 257 feet 11 inches.
