Tracy Murray of Glendora High School scored 14 points and Mitchell Butler of Oakwood High in North Hollywood added 13 to help the West defeat the East, 112-103, in the McDonald’s High School All-American basketball game at Kansas City, Mo.
Shaquille O’Neal of San Antonio, a 6-11 center headed for LSU, scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the West. Bobby Hurley of Jersey City, N.J., a guard going to Duke, had 10 assists for the East. He and O’Neal were named most valuable players in the game that featured 25 of the best high school players in the country.
