The City Section inadvertently scheduled another bye for the Chatsworth High boys’ volleyball team. Only this time it was disguised as another team.
The Chancellors, the second-seeded team in the City Section 4-A Division playoffs, beat Banning, 15-4, 15-8, 15-5, in a one-hour quarterfinal match Thursday at Chatsworth.
Chatsworth (15-0) connected on 55 of 86 spike attempts for a .634 hitting percentage. Greg Weaver led the Chancellors with 19 kills.
Chatsworth’s trio of middle blockers--6-foot-4 Mike Millett, 6-5 1/2 Chris Gleason and 6-3 Mark Dalsass--dominated the Pilots’ smaller front line, combining for 14 kills in 19 attempts.
