New York to Moscow Flights Expanded

WASHINGTON — Pan Am and Aeroflot have expanded service between New York and Moscow on a provisional basis pending completion of a formal U.S.-Soviet agreement, the State Department said Thursday.
Under a year-old joint venture, the airlines had been operating two flights a week and that number has now been doubled, Pan Am spokeswoman Elizabeth Manners said. The joint venture involves Pan Am 747 jets with a Pan Am crew assisted by Aeroflot attendants. Pan Am and Aeroflot each sell 50% of the seats.
The airlines separately operate one-stop flights between the two countries, but those are not affected by the U.S.-Soviet agreement.
