The public is invited to watch the takeoff today of Tony Aliengena, an 11-year-old San Juan Capistrano boy who is trying to become the youngest person ever to circumnavigate the globe.
Tony will depart from John Wayne Airport at 10 a.m. today. His single-engine Cessna Centurion will be taxiing onto the runway from Martin Aviation Inc., a plane-servicing company on the airport Tarmac one building south of the main terminal.
The boy and his entourage will fly across the United States and through Canada, Iceland, Scandinavia and the Soviet Union in a trip that is expected to last seven weeks.
