Pasadena : Probation in Assault Case

A man allegedly hired by crematory operator David Sconce to beat up several competitors has been sentenced in Pasadena Superior Court to five years of probation.
Daniel Robert Galambos pleaded guilty to three counts of assault in 1987.
Galambos testified during a preliminary hearing concerning possible illegal activity connected with Sconce’s crematories and funeral home that he received $900 to beat up competing morticians Ron Hast, Steven Nimz and Tim Waters, according to prosecutors.
Galambos testified that Sconce wanted the three injured because he believed that they were spreading rumors about his operation.
Sconce and his parents, Laurieanne Lamb Sconce and Jerry Sconce, face a total of 67 felony and misdemeanor counts, including conducting multiple cremations, stealing dental gold from corpses and commingling human remains.
