BRUSSELS — The European Community today criticized the United States for moving to renew steel import quotas and asked Washington to clarify President Bush’s plans for a 2 1/2-year extension.
The community’s 12 member states are among 29 nations covered by agreements restricting steel exports to the United States that are due to expire Sept. 30.
