An ancient Chinese opera titled “The Gall of the Peacock” will be performed Oct. 23 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center, starring Taiwan opera star Kuo Hsiao-Chuang. Her appearance here, sponsored by the Republic of China, is part of a United States tour that includes performances in San Francisco, Hawaii and Seattle. “The Gall of the Peacock” is a described as a tragic love story between a Mongolian soldier and his devoted bride, set at the end of the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368).
