Applicants Sought for Montrose Rescue Team

The Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station is accepting applications for future positions on the Montrose Search and Rescue Team.
An orientation session for candidates will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the station, 4554 N. Briggs Ave., La Crescenta.
The team of 25 volunteer reserve deputies of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is responsible for 400 square miles of the Angeles National Forest, the largest area patrolled by any of the county’s seven mountain rescue teams.
Candidates must train for two to three years, beginning with a 14-week academy of two to three sessions per week followed by several sessions per month on rescue techniques. Final choices will made on the basis of a two-day field test.
