BOSTON — The Boston Celtics and the Yugoslav basketball team Jugoplastika have reached an agreement that will allow forward Dino Radja to join the National Basketball Assn. club in a year, a Celtics official said.
Jan Volk, Celtics general manager, said Boston bought out part of Radja’s contract for an unspecified amount, allowing the 21-year-old Radja to play the 1989-90 season in Yugoslavia and then join the Celtics. Last week, U.S. District Court Judge Douglas P. Woodlock ruled that Jugoplastika’s contract with Radja was binding.
The 6-foot-10 Radja was selected by the Celtics in the second round of the NBA draft last June and signed to a one-year contract Aug. 1.
