Los Angeles River and Mass Transit
Katz’s idea about turning the Los Angeles River into a freeway got a lot of coverage for a bad idea--but at a good location.
We don’t need any more freeways to add to the congestion and pollution. What we do need is mass transit!
And the Los Angeles River would be a wonderful site for exactly that--a Metro Rail subway or a monorail elevated system which would utilize the right-of-way would be a tremendous step forward in solving our two biggest problems.
And some good design engineer could even come up with a way to save those darn frogs, if that really was a criteria.
