AUCKLAND, New Zealand — A New Zealand court sentenced teen-age dominatrix Renee Chignell and her lover to life in prison today for throwing a cricket umpire, bound but still alive, into a river after a bondage session that went wrong.
The couple’s 19-day trial on charges of murdering 51-year-old Peter Plumley-Walker fascinated the New Zealand public with daily glimpses into the bizarre and flourishing business of bondage and discipline in suburban Auckland.
Judge Peter Hillyer handed down the sentences on 19-year-old Chignell and Neville Walker, 35.
During the trial, the court heard how Plumley-Walker was badly injured by Chignell during a beating with weights. The two panicked, bundled him into a car and dumped him in the Huka Falls.
