Press to Be Channel 13 News Commentator

Bill Press, who lost his bid for the Democratic nomination for state insurance commissioner last year, will become a news commentator in Los Angeles for KCOP Channel 13 starting Jan. 14, station executive Jeff Wald said Thursday.
Press also has a radio show on KABC, which he will continue. He formerly was a commentator for KABC Channel 7 during a career that has mixed broadcasting and political involvement. In 1988, he mounted a race for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate, but finally abandoned it.
Wald, KCOP executive director of news programming, said Press’ political reputation “will only make him more high-profile,” but added that the commentator will discuss a wide range of subjects in his nightly broadcasts. Press declined to say he was through running for office but said, “I have long-term contracts with both KCOP and KABC radio.”
