Woman Found Slain in Apartment

SANTA ANA — Police were investigating the beating death of an apartment manager late Saturday whose body was found lying on the floor of her apartment by neighbors.
Police had not released the woman’s identity late Saturday because they were still trying to contact relatives, Lt. Chuck Magdalena said.
Magdalena said neighbors called police about 2:55 p.m. to report the suspicious death in the 400 block of West Washington Avenue. The manager lived in the complex where she was apparently murdered.
“The neighbors had broken into the apartment belonging to the manager of the complex and found her lying dead on floor in her bedroom,” Magdalena said. “She had suffered severe trauma to her head.
“At this point, we’re not sure what it (the weapon) was.”
It was unclear what prompted the neighbors to break into the victim’s apartment. Police had not determined a motive for the killing.
