Marie Kelly; Lockheed’s First Woman Employee

Marie Kelly, 98, who was working at the Burbank Chamber of Commerce when Allan Loughead offered her a job as secretary and payroll assistant at what was to become his Lockheed aircraft plant. She became Lockheed’s first woman employee and over the years a friend and confidant of such aviation giants as Charles A. Lindbergh, Wiley Post and Howard Hughes. On Sunday in a Culver City hospital.
