Chinese ‘Monkey’: “The Monkey King,” a 25-part musical drama in Mandarin Chinese with English subtitles, will premiere tonight on KSCI-TV Channel 18. The drama--an adaptation of the classic Chinese myth of a stone monkey who desires to become sage--will air in 1-hour installments on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 p.m. The series was produced by China Central Television, China’s national television network, and China Television Production Co., the major producer of Chinese programming in China. The production features a cast of China’s top actors from opera, stage and film.
