San Marino : Annexation Opposed
Most residents overwhelmingly oppose allowing two unincorporated Los Angeles County neighborhoods to become part of San Marino, a city-sponsored “straw poll” shows.
City officials said the survey, taken through the city’s newsletter, showed that 83% of those who responded oppose accepting the smaller of the two San Pasqual Street neighborhoods seeking annexation. Even more--96%--were against accepting the larger adjacent neighborhood that is trying to get in.
City officials said about one-third of the community’s 4,400 households responded to the survey. The City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the annexation issue for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Huntington School auditorium, 1700 Huntington Drive.
