Wasted Water?
We Southern Californians have been urged repeatedly by authorities to do everything possible to conserve water in this fifth consecutive drought year. I was therefore angered by Jerry Hulse’s piece on Arizona’s fascination with this precious resource (“Water Added,” Jan. 20). Other than a brief mention that the town of Carefree has its own underground supply, nothing was said about where all this water, particularly flaunted in Scottsdale, is coming from. Are there local supplies or is it Colorado River water which Arizona has wastefully diverted from California?
