NICOSIA, Cyprus — About 650 Sudanese fleeing the Gulf War crossed into Iran from Iraq over the last two days, the Iranian news agency IRNA said Tuesday.
It said they were housed in temporary camps after arriving Sunday and Monday night through Khosravi, the main crossing point in western Iran.
The latest arrivals brought to about 2,500 the number of refugees who have fled to Iran since the Gulf War started Jan. 17.
IRNA said last week that 33 Iraqis from three families have sought asylum after crossing into Iran.
