Scud Scare Brings Early Summer Time in Israel

JERUSALEM — Israel will switch to summer time three weeks earlier than usual because of the Gulf War, the government said Sunday.
Since the war began, most Israeli workers have rushed home before 5 p.m. to be with their families by dark, when chances of an Iraqi Scud missile attack are greatest.
The extra hour of daylight beginning March 9 is meant to keep employees at work later.
