NEWPORT BEACH : City Sets Hearing on Massage Parlors
- Share via
The City Council has set a public hearing for Feb. 25 to decide whether to extend for a year a moratorium on new massage parlors in the city.
The Planning Department and city attorney’s office would use the time to determine the number of massage parlors in the city, which officials say has grown 20% in two years.
Officials say the proliferation of parlors, estimated to be 54, may ultimately lead to blighted areas.
During the moratorium, officials would look at physical conditions surrounding the parlors and proximity to residences.
