Newport Pharmaceuticals International: The Laguna Hills health-care company reported a net loss of $2.6 million for 1990, which included a charge of $1.3 million in April for the exchange of notes for common stock. In 1989, the company lost $1.5 million. Revenue rose 55% to $60.4 million from $39 million. For the fourth quarter, net income totaled $3,000, contrasted with a loss of $939,000 for the 1989 fourth quarter. Revenue increased 49% to $16.8 million from $11.3 million.
