SMOKY QUESTION: Because citizens complained, Orange County Transit District staffers recommended ending tobacco ads on the buses. . . . OCTD’s ad firm choked on that one, arguing that it would reduce revenues by about 20%--a hefty $200,000 a year. Staffers compromised, proposing that ads be cut from 300 to 198 a year. They would also ban the ads from vehicles used in school areas. OCTD board members are due to vote on the proposed policy today.
