National Environmental Waste Co. has told city officials that it will accept the 11% rate increase approved by the City Council in January, Mayor John H. Richards said Tuesday.
The new rates will be in effect through June. NEWCO, which began discussions with the city about an increase last summer, originally asked for 18.6% but lowered the number to 13.3% in January.
The new rates will mean an increase of from less than $1 per month for basic residential curbside service to as much as $24.20 for larger properties.
