31 AWOL Guardsmen Sentenced in Texas

FT. HOOD, Tex — Thirty-one of the 67 Louisiana National Guardsmen who went AWOL to protest Gulf War training conditions at Ft. Hood have received non-judicial punishment, officials said Tuesday.
The punishment was levied under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, spokesman Dan Nance said. Specifics were not released, but penalties could include reduction in rank, extra duty and forfeiture of pay.
The guardsmen are members of the 1st Battalion, 156th Armor, of the 256th Infantry Brigade.
