Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies on Friday discontinued a three-day search for an elderly Granada Hills man whose car was found abandoned in the Antelope Valley, authorities said Saturday.
The search for Rudy Kavara, 78, was called off at 4:30 p.m. after Air Force personnel and deputies from Los Angeles and Kern counties--aided by search dogs, volunteer hikers and helicopters--combed the high desert in snowy weather, said Deputy R. Card of the Antelope Valley station.
Kavara had been reported missing to Los Angeles police on Sunday.
The search began late Wednesday after security officers from Edwards Air Force Base found Kavara’s car on deserted Air Force land, Card said.
