Lakes Rise and Fishing Improves After Rain

Heavy rains in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties boosted fishing prospects at Lake Cachuma and Lake Casitas this week.
Cachuma was reported to have risen 15 feet since Monday night, and Casitas was gaining an inch an hour as rain continued Tuesday.
“And would you believe it?” Randy King said from Casitas. “People are fishing--and catching.”
Charlie Lamkin at Lake Perris in Riverside County said the weather has slowed the bass fishing there but added: “As soon as it settles down, it’s going to bust wide open. These fish are just aching to spawn.”
