A man who killed his former girlfriend and dumped her nude body on a road in Tijuana was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life in state prison.
A $10,000 fine also was levied against Mark Cadiz, 25, by San Diego Superior Court Judge Fred Link.
Cadiz pleaded guilty Feb. 25 to second-degree murder in the death last September of Diane Egay Casora, 30. When her body was discovered Sept. 12 in the La Mesa area of Tijuana, her wrists and face were wrapped with tape.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Bill Collins told the judge the victim died of asphyxiation.
Cadiz worked as a bouncer at a National City bar, and the victim was an operator for AT&T.; At the time of her death, she had broken off her relationship with Cadiz.
