Larrieu-Smith, 38, Smashes Slaney’s U.S. Record in 10,000

AUSTIN, Tex. — Francie Larrieu-Smith broke Mary Slaney’s American record for 10,000 meters Thursday night in the 64th Texas Relays.
Larrieu-Smith, 38, won in 31 minutes 28.92 seconds, 6.38 seconds under the mark set by Slaney in 1982.
Ingrid Kristiansen of Norway set the world 10,000 record of 30:13.74 in 1986.
