Nominees Named for PEN/Faulkner Award

Five books have been nominated for the 1991 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction.
The national award is for novels and short story collections published in 1990.
The nominees are “The Music of Chance” by Paul Auster (Viking Penguin), “A Gentleman’s Guide to the Frontier” by Joanne Meschery (Simon & Schuster), “The Barnum Museum” by Steven Millhauser (Poseidon Press/Simon & Schuster), “Arrogance” by Joanna Scott (Linden Press/Simon & Schuster) and “Philadelphia Fire” by John Edgar Wideman (Henry Holt).
The winner will be announced in May. The five writers will be honored at a ceremony at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., May 18.
