COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fresno State Home Run Beats Titans

Mike Noel’s home run in the bottom of the sixth inning was enough to give Fresno State a 1-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference baseball game Friday at Fresno.
Bobby Jones (9-1), who had a 1.58 earned-run average entering the game, pitched a two-hitter and struck out 11 for his 10th complete game of the season and third shutout for Fresno State (25-12, 7-0 in conference), which is ranked No. 21 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball-ESPN poll.
Fullerton starter Jack Bailey gave up two hits and was removed after being hit in back of his right (throwing) hand by a hard line drive in the fifth inning. Brent Deremer (2-2) allowed three hits, including the home run, and took the loss for Fullerton (21-16, 5-2).
The only two Titan hits were singles by Frank Herman and Jason Moler.
In another Big West Conference baseball game:
Pacific 6, UC Irvine 5 (10 innings)--UC Irvine trailed, 5-2, going into the seventh, but RBI singles by Matt Filson, Matt Young and Bryant Winslow tied the score at 5-5. A two-out, RBI single by Scott Johnson scored Butch Cain in the 10th for Pacific (14-21, 1-6). Winslow had three hits and scored. Young, Steve Ott, Joe Furukawa and Al Rodriguez each had two hits for UC Irvine (19-21, 1-6).
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. baseball:
Cal State Dominguez Hills 12, Chapman 3--John Otte had three hits, scored and had three RBIs for Cal State Dominguez Hills (19-13) at Hart Park. Torrie Sweet had two hits, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning which brought Chapman (8-26) to within two, 4-2.
