Bill Pratt of Northridge will drive in Sunday’s Toyota Atlantic race, an event that is part of the Long Beach Grand Prix weekend.
Pratt, who has raced cars for nearly a decade, moved to the Atlantic series in 1990 and finished ninth overall in the 10-race series.
Sunday’s race through the streets of Long Beach is the 1991 inaugural event in the Atlantic series. Pratt will drive a Swift DB-4, a 240-horsepower car that is nearly identical in appearance to the Indy cars that will race in Sunday’s Grand Prix.
The Cal State Northridge men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete against Nevada Reno and host Stanford in a meet today.
Jean-Paul Lie of Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) University, a 1990 graduate of Agoura High, earned All-American honors in swimming at last month’s NCAA Division III championships at Emory (Ga.) University.
Lie was a member of Carnegie Mellon’s 800-yard freestyle relay, which finished 12th in 7 minutes 1.83 seconds.
