Southern California’s got mollusk mania! No, not the critters that invade our gardensand make such a satisfying crunch when slain, but the fancy-schmancy kind. Snail farms are the hot agri-industry in California. Ergo, the City of Industry’s Second Annual Great Snail Festival on April 26-28 at the Industry Hills Equestrian Center.
With a 110-booth exposition and various snail-derived edibles--pizza, pasta dishes and ice-cream topping--it’s an escargot extravaganza. And don’t miss the Great Snail Race--snails of all varieties compete for fabulous prizes by racing up a 12-inch pole.
There are plenty of other non-snail-related activities, too, including a rodeo (horses, we promise) on Saturday and Sunday; a carnival, a tortilla-tossing contest and agricultural and crafts exhibits from more than 65 schools.
Slime factor aside, it promises to be a rollicking good time.
