A motorcyclist died early Tuesday morning in El Cajon after hitting the guardrail on the center divider on an Interstate 8 curve, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Robert W. Dalton, 30, of El Cajon, an unemployed electrical technician, was going west on I-8 at high speed, according to Officer Jackie Sturges.
The impact of hitting the guardrail knocked him off the motorcycle, and he skidded 200 feet, suffering massive head injuries, Sturges said. He was not wearing a helmet. The motorcycle continued to skid for another 200 feet.
Dalton was taken to Sharp Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 5 a.m.
