Ungrateful for the Dead: The Grateful Dead and their tie-dyed followers are not welcome in Noblesville, Ind., when the band returns to the city for a third time this summer to perform at a nearby amphitheater, a city councilman said. Noblesville City Councilman Douglas McDonald says three visits in three years by Deadheads, the band’s followers, would be too much. The band is scheduled to perform June 7 and 8 at the Deer Park Music Center. To deter the Deadheads, McDonald has called for the closing of a campground near the music center during that weekend. But Noblesville Parks Director John Bisbing disagreed with the councilman, saying that the Deadheads who camped out at the park last year did not leave the grounds a mess.
