Frida on Their Mind: The life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo will be made into an epic movie for New Line Cinema. Luis Valdez, known for “La Bamba,” will write and direct “Frida,” which is expected to begin shooting in Mexico City in September. It will be the first feature film on the artist to get off the ground--other projects on Kahlo are in development with names such as Madonna and Robert De Niro attached to them. Kahlo has become one of Latin America’s most esteemed artists since her death in 1953. She was married to Mexican artist Diego Rivera.
