Eight Burbank youths were beaten and stabbed by apparent gang members who swarmed around their car Sunday morning as they left a party at a campground near Castaic, authorities said.
Five males and three females were injured in the attack that occurred as the group left Frenchman’s Flats campground about 12:30 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Watner said.
No one had been arrested Sunday and the victims’ names were not released by sheriff’s deputies.
The youths were leaving a party of about 200 people when a group surrounded their car and began pelting it with rocks, bottles and sticks, Watner said. The attackers then opened a car door and stabbed three of the occupants, hit a fourth with a stick and beat another with their fists, Watner said.
Three male victims were treated for various injuries at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia and released. A fourth male was transferred to another hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The attackers fled in several cars and headed south on the Golden State Freeway, Watner said.
