Tekelec Reports 23% Rise in Quarterly Profit

Tekelec, a Calabasas firm that makes telecommunications testing equipment, reported a 23% jump in net income in the first quarter that ended March 31 to $1.5 million from $1.2 million a year earlier. Revenues rose 38% to $13.3 million from $9.6 million.
The company attributed the growth in the latest quarter to demand for its products in domestic and international markets.
