COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress Beats Rancho Santiago to Win Conference Softball Title

Cypress clinched the Orange Empire Conference softball title Monday with a 2-0 victory over Rancho Santiago in Santa Ana.
Karrie Schwartz (7-3) pitched a no-hitter for Cypress (38-10, 15-2 in conference). Nikkanni Andrews and Priscilla Sarmiento had RBI singles for the Chargers, who also won the title last season under Coach Brad Pickler.
In another Orange Empire Conference game:
Orange Coast 4, Fullerton 0--Alisha Nelson pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and Kristin Heizer had two hits, including an RBI double, as second-place OCC (31-13, 13-4) won at home.
Becky Tolor had two hits and scored twice and Tina Fuata had a hit and two RBIs for the Pirates, who scored two runs in the first inning and one each in the fifth and sixth.
Erika Ostergaard (12-17) took the loss for Fullerton (13-20, 10-8).
In Orange Empire Conference golf:
Orange Coast wins--The Pirates (22-0) won the conference championship with a score of 757 for 36 holes at Singing Hill County Club in El Cajon. Saddleback was second with 780, Palomar (783) was third, Cypress (816) fourth and San Diego Mesa (820) fifth.
Bryan Saltus of OCC won the individual title with a two-over-par 144. Scott McLeod (149) of OCC was second and teammate Ken Calvert (153) third.
