From Times Staff and Wire Reports

GM Natural Gas Trucks Delayed: General Motors Corp. has postponed its plan to produce 1,000 natural gas-powered Sierra pickup trucks until late 1991, the trade publication Automotive News said. It has reportedly had trouble getting reliable components for the vehicles’ natural gas injection systems. The trucks, which air-quality officials say run significantly cleaner than gasoline-burning trucks, are to be tested for fleet use in California and Texas.
