TOP DOGS: Esperanza High School’s baseball team has been named the No. 1 prep team in the country by USA Today. It’s the second time in five years the Anaheim school has won top honors from the national newspaper. . . . Esperanza (21-2) was the paper’s top-ranked team in 1986 when it finished 25-3-1 and won the Southern Section 5-A division.
