Board to Study Plan for Service Center
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday to study a proposal to create a community service center in the San Fernando Valley that would provide counseling and employment training for the poor, unemployed and senior citizens.
At the urging of Supervisor Ed Edelman, the board ordered the Department of Community and Senior Citizens and the Internal Services Department to take an inventory of county property in the Valley that would be suitable for such a center.
The supervisors also instructed county officials to explore potential funding sources, such as grants. The board asked for a report on the proposal in 30 days.
