Bringing Sand to the Beaches
I just had to write regarding “Case of the Vanishing Coastline” (May 9). Dear friends, you don’t have to be a marine geologist or coast engineer or the Wizard of Oz to know why there is no sand at the beaches.
It’s all being ruined, before the rivers can dump any into the ocean. Plain and simple.
Hop in your little car and drive California 76 along the San Luis Rey River bed and count and photograph the sand removal operations you encounter. It’s enough to make you sick.
