Northridge Lands Long-Range Bomber DeMatteo

Zak DeMatteo, a 52.5% shooter from three-point range last season for San Marcos High in Santa Barbara, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play basketball at Cal State Northridge. He is the fourth recruit Coach Pete Cassidy has secured since the most recent signing period began April 10.
DeMatteo, a 6-foot-5 swingman, connected on 33 of 64 three-point attempts and averaged 16.4 points and 4.5 rebounds a game.
“He is a great shooter,” San Marcos Coach Jeff Lavender said. “He is also very quick and very unselfish.”
DeMatteo, who helped San Marcos to a 26-3 record last season, finished his three-year career as the fifth-leading scorer and rebounder in school history.
A first-team All-Southern Section selection in basketball, DeMatteo also plays volleyball for San Marcos, which is ranked No. 1 in the state.
DeMatteo chose Northridge over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Davis and Westmont, according to Lavender.
