Jimmy’s Place: The late Jimmy Cagney’s Upper Manhattan neighborhood paid tribute to its favorite son Thursday by naming East 91st Street between Second and Third avenues James Cagney Place. A brick monument commemorating the film star was unveiled bearing a bronze plaque reading “Yankee Doodle Dandy--James Cagney, 1899-1986.” Actress Mary Tyler Moore was on hand to accept a contribution from the James Cagney Foundation for one of her favorite charities, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Others honoring the Academy Award-winning actor included boxer Floyd Patterson, baseball’s Joe Pepitone and director Milos Forman.
