A one-block section of Pico Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles will be closed for more than four months beginning today so that workers can finish construction on two Los Angeles Convention Center bridges.
Eastbound and westbound lanes will be closed from Figueroa Street west to Sentous Street, said Gary Sherwin of the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. Pedestrians will still be able to use that portion of the street with overhead protection, he said.
Three lanes are scheduled to reopen Sept. 30, and full service should be restored by Nov. 15, Sherwin said. In the meantime, motorists may take one of the following detours:
* Vehicles traveling east on Pico should turn north on Sentous to 11th Street, east on 11th to Figueroa and south on Figueroa to Pico.
* Vehicles traveling west on Pico should turn north on Figueroa, west on 11th to Sentous and south on Sentous to Pico.
