Alaska Front to Bring Chill, Mist, Clouds

Coastal clouds and lower temperatures are expected to dominate the weekend weather, according to the National Weather Service in San Diego.
A low-pressure front from the Gulf of Alaska will bring rain to Northern California and scatter clouds over San Diego, meteorologist Wilbur Shigehara said. The deepening marine layer may bring a morning mist or light drizzle locally, and, at the very least, will keep skies wrapped in clouds until early afternoon.
Sunday will be the coolest day of the weekend with temperatures struggling to get into the low 70s throughout much of the county, Shigehara said.
At the beaches, temperatures will hover in the low 60s through Sunday. The water temperature will be 62 degrees with the surf at 3 to 5 feet and breezes of up to 18 m.p.h.
Coastal temperatures will range from 65 to 70 during the day, dipping to 52 to 58 at night. Inland areas will see highs of 68 to 73 and lows of 47 to 55.
Mountain areas will cool to the 60s by Saturday and to 58 to 65 by Sunday. Nighttime temperatures will drop into the 30s. Gusty winds of up to 30 m.p.h. are expected.
“It will be a pleasant time to go to the desert if you can handle the winds,” Shigehara said. Winds will gust to 30 m.p.h., with temperatures of 95 today, 88 to 93 Saturday and the mid-80s Sunday.
